Recommended Settings

⚙️ Recommended Print Settings

This is a structural component that will bear weight. Strength and durability in humidity are the priorities.

FDM/Filament Settings (Recommended for Structure & Size)

  • Material: PETG or ABS/ASA is strongly recommended for strength and resilience in high-humidity vivariums.

  • Layer Height: 0.2 mm.

  • Infill Density: 15-20%. Provides the necessary structural strength to bear weight.

  • Wall/Perimeter Count: 3. Ensures structural integrity.

  • Supports: Minimal supports may be required beneath the cubby overhangs or at the locations of the magnet holes.

SLA/Resin Settings (Recommended for Detail)

  • Material: Standard UV Resin (Grey, White, or colored).

  • Layer Height: 0.05 mm or finer.

  • Orientation (CRITICAL): Print with the base of the model flat against the build plate.

  • Supports: Minimal supports may be required for the cubby openings or magnet recesses.

  • Preparation: No hollowing or drainage holes needed.

Important: Always thoroughly clean your final print before placing it in any animal habitat. Pay careful attention to support removal to avoid damaging the delicate branches.

Assembly & Installation

🛠️ Preparation & Post-Processing Steps

This product requires crucial assembly and an extended curing period to prevent damage to your enclosure.

Assembly (Glue Required)

  1. Preparation: Print the ledge body. Clean off all supports and wash the model thoroughly.

  2. Magnet Placement: Insert the tiny magnets (ensure they are oriented correctly for polarity!) into the designated recesses in the print.

  3. Gluing: Apply a small amount of aquarium-safe super glue (cyanoacrylate) to permanently secure the magnets.

Curing (CRITICAL STEP)

The glue must be fully cured before the magnets are used on glass.

  • Cure Time: MANDATORY 48-HOUR CURE TIME. Cyanoacrylate glue releases a vapor during curing that can cause white residue (“fogging”) to permanently stain acrylic and glass surfaces.

  • Method: Allow the assembled ledge to cure in a well-ventilated area, away from your enclosure, for a minimum of 48 hours.

Cleaning (CRITICAL)

Before placing the ledge in your terrarium, wash it thoroughly with hot, non-soapy water. This removes any glue residue or printing oils that could harm the inhabitants. A final thorough rinse is mandatory.
