Recommended Settings

⚙️ Recommended Print Settings

This is a large, structural print where stability and water resistance are key. The use of supports is necessary to ensure the interior prints successfully.

FDM/Filament Settings (Recommended for Structure)

Material: PETG or ABS (Highly recommended for size, durability, and water resistance).
Layer Height: 0.2 mm.
Infill Density: 5% or 10%. The model must be mostly hollow to float.
Wall/Perimeter Count: 4-5. Necessary for structural rigidity and a watertight exterior.
Orientation (CRITICAL): Print the hull right-side up. Supports are REQUIRED for the interior hull if infill density is set to zero.

SLA/Resin Settings (Recommended for Detail)

Material: Standard UV Resin (Grey or specialty colored).
Layer Height: 0.05 mm or finer.
Orientation (CRITICAL): Print this model flat on its bottom.
Preparation (MANDATORY): Requires hollowing and placement of supports in the interior hull.

Important: Always thoroughly clean your final print before placing it in an aquarium. Avoid using metal-filled or abrasive filaments. For long-term use, ensure your chosen material is chemically stable in water.

🛠️ Preparation & Post-Processing Steps

This project requires careful hollowing and support placement to ensure the structural integrity of the interior and correct floating behavior.

Slicer Preparation (Resin & FDM)

To ensure material savings, successful structural printing, and stability, you must use your slicer software to:

Hollow the model (essential for both printers).
Apply supports to the interior hull to prevent printing issues (e.g., sagging of internal surfaces/decks).

Functionality & Water Intake

Water Holes: Holes must be applied to the top half of the hull. These holes are necessary to allow a small amount of water intake, providing ballast for stability and ensuring the ship sits correctly on the water line without rolling. The holes should remain above the water line when the model is correctly ballasted.
Sealing (Resin Only): After cleaning and curing, the drainage holes used during printing MUST be sealed to prevent excessive water ingress. Use liquid UV resin and a UV light/pen to plug the holes.

Assembly

No Assembly Required: This model is designed to be printed as a single main hull component (minus any optional turrets/cannons not listed), requiring no external glue or assembly.

Cleaning (CRITICAL)

Before placing the model in your tank, wash it thoroughly to remove all residues. A final thorough water rinse is highly recommended.
