⚙️ Recommended Print Settings
Since this design is intended for dual printing methods, settings are broken down for maximum performance and strength.
FDM/Filament Settings (Recommended for Screws & Retainer Ring)
-
Material: PETG or ABS. Highly durable, water-resistant filaments are best for the structural components.
-
Layer Height: 0.16 mm – 0.2 mm. A good balance of strength and detail.
-
Infill Density: 100%. Use 100% for the screws and main body for maximum durability.
-
Wall/Perimeter Count: 4. Ensures the parts are robust and watertight.
-
Supports: Minimal supports may be needed for the main body’s thread area; screws should print flat without supports.
-
Slicing Note: Print the screws slowly to maximize layer adhesion and strength.
SLA/Resin Settings (Recommended for Portal Main Body)
-
Material: Standard UV Resin. Clear resin is ideal for better visibility into the tank.
-
Layer Height: 0.05 mm or finer for smooth, detailed results.
-
Orientation: Print the main body Flat to reduce layer lines and improve feature accuracy.
-
Post-Processing: Ensure the print is fully washed and post-cured according to resin manufacturer guidelines before placing it in an aquarium.
Important: Always thoroughly clean your final print before placing it in an aquarium. Avoid using metal-filled or abrasive filaments. For long-term use, ensure your chosen material is chemically stable in water.
