Block Castle Mountain Terrain Decor

Create a mesmerizing, active water feature in your enclosure with the Block Castle Mountain Waterfall Terrain Decor! This structural piece combines the rugged look of a mountain with the elegance of a blocky castle ruin, designed to function as a continuous waterfall powered by a small submersible pump (not included).

To achieve the ancient, weathered look and to ensure water safety, painting and sealing the final model is mandatory. The file requires custom slicer preparation: hollowing, deleting the bottom surface for resin efficiency, and adding supports for a successful, high-quality print.

Recommended Settings

⚙️ Recommended Print Settings

This is a large, functional water feature. Material choice and structural integrity are mandatory for success.

FDM/Filament Settings (Recommended for Structure & Size)

  • Material: PETG or ABS/ASA is absolutely MANDATORY for water contact, humidity, and long-term stability. PLA is NOT recommended for functional water components.

  • Layer Height: 0.2 mm.

  • Infill Density: 0%. Hollow this model out.

  • Wall/Perimeter Count: 4-5. Crucial for preventing porosity and ensuring a strong seal after assembly/sealing.

  • Supports (CRITICAL): Supports are REQUIRED for significant overhangs and interior ledges.

SLA/Resin Settings (Recommended for Detail)

  • Material: Standard UV Resin (ensure it is stable in water).

  • Layer Height: 0.05 mm or finer.

  • Orientation (CRITICAL): Print this model flat.

  • Supports (CRITICAL): Supports are REQUIRED for the entire structure.

Important: This print requires significant slicer preparation before printing.

Assembly & Installation

🛠️ Preparation & Post-Processing Steps

This product requires multiple mandatory preparation steps in the slicer, assembly with a pump, and a mandatory painting process.

Slicer Preparation (Resin & FDM)

To ensure material efficiency and print success, you must use your slicer software to:

  1. Hollow: Hollow the entire model.

  2. Delete Bottom: MANDATORY FOR RESIN/FDM EFFICIENCY. Delete the flat bottom surface of the model (using a plane cut or other slicer tool) to reduce resin usage and print time.

  3. Add Drainage/Water Holes: Add drainage holes to the top surface of the model (for easy removal of uncured resin) and to allow water to enter the final structure if desired for ballasting.

  4. Supports: Add supports throughout the interior and exterior to ensure all overhangs print correctly.

Sealing Drainage Holes (Resin Only)

After washing and initial curing, the top drainage holes MUST be sealed to complete the model. Use a small dab of liquid UV resin and cure it instantly with a UV light/pen.

🎨 MANDATORY Realistic Painting Guide

To achieve the intended result and safely seal the model for habitat use, painting and sealing are MANDATORY.

  1. Base Coat: Apply a solid, opaque color (dark grey or black) across the entire surface. Let this layer dry completely.

  2. Detail Rub: Take a small amount of light grey or tan acrylic paint on a dry brush. Lightly brush across the raised block and rock texture. The lighter color will catch the raised edges, enhancing the stone’s realism.

  3. Safety Seal (CRITICAL): Once all paint is dry, seal the entire model (interior and exterior water paths) with a coat of gloss or matte clear acrylic spray paint. This step is required for waterproofing the paint and protecting the color from water degradation.

  4. Curing: Let the sealed model sit for a minimum of 24 hours before introducing it to the habitat.

Cleaning (CRITICAL)

Before placing the final assembled tag in your habitat, wash it thoroughly with hot, non-soapy water. A final thorough rinse is mandatory.
