🛠️ Preparation & Post-Processing Steps
This product requires crucial assembly, an extended curing period for the glue, and the application of the cleaning material.
Assembly (Glue & Magnets Required)
-
Preparation: Print both the curved wiper and the mini knob. Wash and dry thoroughly.
-
Magnet Placement: Insert the magnets (ensure correct polarity on corresponding pieces!) into the designated recesses.
-
Gluing: Use aquarium-safe super glue (cyanoacrylate) to secure the magnets permanently.
-
Felt Application: Cut the felt fabric to fit the wiper side. Glue the felt securely over the magnet recesses on the cleaning side of the tool.
Curing (CRITICAL STEP)
The glue must be fully cured before the magnets are used on glass.
-
Cure Time: MANDATORY 48-HOUR CURE TIME. Cyanoacrylate glue releases a vapor during curing that can cause white residue (“fogging”) to permanently stain acrylic and glass surfaces.
-
Method: Allow the assembled wipers to cure in a well-ventilated area, away from your enclosure, for a minimum of 48 hours.
Cleaning (CRITICAL)
Before placing these components into your habitat, wash them thoroughly with hot, non-soapy water. A final thorough rinse is mandatory.
📦 Required External Tools
The following materials are required to complete the functional connection system and are not included with the STL files.
- Tiny Magnets: Neodymium magnets (e.g., 5mm x 3mm or similar) are required to create the magnetic bond between the two wiper halves.
- Felt Fabric Sheet: A soft, non-abrasive felt sheet (cut to size) is applied to the cleaning surface to wipe the glass safely.
- Aquarium-Safe Super Glue: Required to secure the magnets and felt to the printed parts.
